Long Home in the Community

Long Home is a family business with deep roots in the Washington, D.C. community — and growing connections up and down the East Coast. We’re committed to improving lives, strengthening families, and giving back to the neighborhoods that have supported us for generations.

Being part of a community means showing up — with care, with purpose, and with heart. That’s why we proudly support organizations and initiatives that bring people together, provide hope, and build a stronger tomorrow.

Bo’s Effort

Breaking the Stigma of Mental Illness Through Awareness

Bo’s Effort was founded in 2015 by John, Jill, Katie, and Johnny DePaola in honor of their son and brother, Bo DePaola, who passed away at age 20.

Bo was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 19. His story reflects the challenges faced by many families impacted by mental illness — a topic too often surrounded by silence, shame, and misunderstanding. Bo’s Effort exists to change that. Through education, conversation, and compassion, we work together to break the stigma of mental illness and connect people with the support they deserve.

The Good Neighbor Project

As members of the community, we believe in being good neighbors. The Good Neighbor Project, launched in 2017, was created to help local families in need of critical home improvements they otherwise couldn’t afford.

From the first conversation to the final nail, our team comes together to restore safety, comfort, and peace of mind — one home at a time.

Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability, and self-reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent and affordable home.” — from Habitat.org

We’re proud to stand alongside Habitat for Humanity in support of that mission — because everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
