    The Long Home Story

Long Home is a trusted leader in home improvement across the East Coast. For nearly eight decades, we have helped hundreds of thousands of families create homes that are safer, more comfortable, and more beautiful. Our foundation was built on a simple belief: when you combine quality products, expert craftsmanship, and genuine respect for the customer, you create more than a business. You create lifelong relationships.

    A Family Legacy of Excellence

Our story began in 1945 when Henry “Tots” Long founded Long’s Fence Co. in Washington, D.C. From humble beginnings, his vision of hard work, honesty, and exceptional service took root and flourished. In 1948, Henry’s son Robert “Bob” Long joined the company after serving in the United States Merchant Marines. Bob’s leadership transformed Long’s Fence Co. into a household name known for its integrity, professionalism, and quality workmanship. Under his direction, the company, soon known simply as Long Fence, became a recognized and trusted name throughout the region.

    Expanding the Long Legacy

In the mid-1980s, Bob’s son-in-law, John DePaola, joined Long Fence and quickly rose through the ranks, bringing with him a vision to expand the company’s impact. Recognizing the trust the Long name had earned, John established a home products division and launched Long Windows. By 1994, that division had grown into a separate company called Long Fence and Home, marking a new chapter in the Long family’s story. From windows came new opportunities including Roofing, Baths, and Long Doors. Each brand carried forward the same unwavering commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. “Our goal has always been to make our customers happy,” says Chief Executive Officer John DePaola. “Every member of our team works together to create a seamless experience for homeowners, from consultation to installation. We are constantly improving to make every project easy and enjoyable.” After decades of success serving the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia markets, Long Home expanded into New England in 2018, sharing our trusted name and values with even more homeowners.

    Building for the Future

As our product offerings and service areas grew, Long Fence and Home became Long Home. The name reflects our broader mission to enhance every part of a customer’s home. Today, we proudly operate in ten states, including Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Florida, as well as Washington, D.C. Long Home remains a fourth-generation family business. Chief Executive Officer John DePaola and Chief Brand Officer Jill Long DePaola continue to guide the company with the same integrity and dedication that have defined the Long name for nearly eighty years. Their children, John DePaola, Jr., Head of Marketing and Technology, Katie DePaola Silverman, Company Spokesperson and Director of People and Communications, and her husband, Adam Silverman, Director of Business Development, carry that legacy forward with energy and pride.
