Katie DePaola Silverman, also known as Katie Long DePaola, is the Company Spokesperson and Director of People and Communications at Long Home – and a familiar face to homeowners who have seen her in Long Home advertising or through Katie’s Keys, her online home improvement and lifestyle series.
As a fourth-generation member of the Long family, Katie brings a uniquely personal perspective to a company and an industry that have been part of her life from the beginning.
Katie’s connection to Long Home spans four generations. Four generations ago, her great-grandfather, Henry “Tots” Long, started the family business in Washington, D.C., building it around hard work, honesty, and exceptional service. Those values were carried forward by the generations that followed, including Katie’s parents, John DePaola and Jill Long DePaola, who helped shape the home improvement company Long Home is today.
Growing up in the family business gave Katie a firsthand understanding of what goes into creating a great homeowner experience – and the importance of earning the trust customers place in the people working on their homes.
While the Long name has always been part of Katie’s story, she built a public voice and career of her own.
As an entrepreneur, author and communicator, Katie has spent years connecting with audiences around personal growth, lifestyle and everyday life. She is the author of At Least You Look Good: Learning to Glow Through What You Go Through and founder of IGC Coaching School, experiences that helped shape the approachable, conversational style she brings to her work today.
That background gives Katie a perspective on home improvement that begins with people rather than products: how we live in our homes, how we want them to feel, and how the decisions we make about them affect everyday life.
Through Katie’s Keys, Katie’s home improvement and lifestyle series, she shares approachable ideas for making the most of the place you call home.
From design and decorating to practical improvements, seasonal ideas and everyday homeowner questions, Katie’s Keys reflects Katie’s belief that creating a home you love shouldn’t have to feel intimidating.
Her perspective isn’t about telling homeowners how to become contractors. It’s about helping them ask better questions, discover possibilities and make more confident decisions about their homes.
Katie is available for interviews and commentary on home improvement, homeowner and lifestyle trends, Long Home, and people and culture.
Today, Katie brings her family history and her own experience as a communicator together at Long Home. As Company Spokesperson and Director of People and Communications, she represents both the company and the fourth generation of the Long family.
From Long Home advertising and digital content to media appearances and Katie’s Keys, Katie connects homeowners with the people, ideas and values behind the Long Home name.
For Katie, carrying the Long legacy forward means making it relevant to a new generation of homeowners. Whether she’s sharing an idea, telling the Long Home story or speaking with the media, she brings an approachable, people-first perspective to home improvement.
As the familiar face of Long Home, Katie connects over eight decades of family tradition with the way homeowners live, improve and enjoy their homes today.
